Hemingway On Stage: The Road to Freedom
Part One - Sunrise: The Early Years
I have created a monster!
The
current play is in the form of two acts ending after Hemingway's
World War I adventure. The play has turned into a multi play series
and I'm not sure how many sections it will have. This year, I'll
have about 70 minutes total playing time. I already have about 40
minutes of script completed for next year up to the departure for
Paris. I hope to add another 30 to 40 minutes. About 30 some slides
will be rear projected on twin screens during the play this summer.
The slides have been completed and a soundtrack has been recorded. I
start technical work this weekend to incorporate all the elements
and June 6 we move into a small theatre to prepare for Canadian
previews which run June 12 - 22.
On
July 15 we present a Gala Premiere in Key West, Florida to open the
Hemingway Days Festival. The show will be presented at the
Waterfront Playhouse. Two regular shows follow on July 16 and 17.
All proceeds will go
to the Key West Arts and Historical Society so that they can
maintain and expand their Hemingway Collection at the Customs House
Museum.
We
expect to have international coverage of the event.
Kindest regards
Brian
